Silicon carbide (SiC) is a lightweight ceramic material with high strength properties comparable to
diamond. It has excellent thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, and is
resistant to corrosion from acids. Silicon carbide is an excellent ceramic material
for applications requiring good erosion and abrasive resistance.
SiC shaft rod properties:
a. high temperature strength
b. superior thermal shock resistance
c. excellent wear resistance
d. good fracture toughness
e. mechanical fatigue and creep resistance
f. Excellent non-wetting property with good oxidation resistance
Applications
It is widely used in the production of aluminum, copper and zinc , as the lining material of the molten pool and electrolytic bath (reduction bath).
